Catching A January Salmon By Jock Monteith
Monday 27 January 2020
There's a great opportunity on the River Tay during late January to connect with heavyweight salmon that have just entered the river or that ran the river through December. Many of these fine December run fish are generally mistaken for un-spawned previous year stock and aren't recorded as fresh run Spring salmon as was the case here.
Many early Spring fish enter the River Tay during December which are then mistaken as old unspawned salmon from last year. This perfect fish is one such example which was caught by one of our guided guests on Saturday.
